Exodous 23:4-5
If thou meet thine enemy's ox or his ass going astray,
thou shalt surely bring it back to him again. If thou see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under his
burden, and wouldest forbear to help him, thou shalt surely help
with him.
Psalms 35:12-15
They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my
soul. But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I
humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own
bosom. I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I
bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother. But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves
together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me,
and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:
Proverbs 16:7
When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his
enemies to be at peace with him.
Proverbs 24:17-18
Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not
thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his
wrath from him.
Proverbs 25:21-22
If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and
if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD
shall reward thee.
Matthew 5:43-48
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love
thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you,
do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully
use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven:
for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and
sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not
even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others?
do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven
is perfect.
Mark 12:28-33
And one of the scribes came, and having heard them
reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well,
asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is,
Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with
all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this
is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy
neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than
these. And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the
truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: And to love him with all the heart, and with all the
understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and
to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt
offerings and sacrifices.
Luke 6:27-36
But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good
to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully
use you. And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the
other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy
coat also. Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh
away thy goods ask them not again. And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them
likewise. For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for
sinners also love those that love them. And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have
ye? for sinners also do even the same. And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank
have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for
nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the
children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to
the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
Romans 12:17-21
Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things
honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with
all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto
wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the
Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him
drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
Hebrews 12:14
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which
no man shall see the Lord:
