Job 5:2-7
For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one. I
have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his
habitation. His children are far from safety, and they are crushed
in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them. Whose harvest
the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the
robber swalloweth up their substance. Although affliction cometh not
forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;
Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.
Job 11:12
For vain man would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass's
colt.
Proverbs 26:3-16
A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool's
back. Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be
like unto him. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise
in his own conceit. He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool
cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage. The legs of the lame
are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools. As he that
bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool.
As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable
in the mouth of fools. The great God that formed all things both
rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors. As a dog returneth
to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly. Seest thou a man
wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is
in the streets. As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the
slothful upon his bed. The slothful hideth his hand in his bosom;
it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth. The sluggard is
wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.
Proverbs 27:22
Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a
pestle, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.
Proverbs 29:9
If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or
laugh, there is no rest.
Proverbs 29:11
A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till
afterwards.
Proverbs 29:20
Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope
of a fool than of him.
Ecclesiastes 2:12-14
And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly: for
what can the man do that cometh after the king? even that
which hath been already done. Then I saw that wisdom excelleth
folly, as far as light excelleth darkness. The wise man's eyes are
in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself
perceived also that one event happeneth to them all.
Ecclesiastes 4:5-6
The fool foldeth his hands together, and eateth his own flesh.
Better is an handful with quietness, than both the hands full
with travail and vexation of spirit.
Ecclesiastes 7:6
For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of
the fool: this also is vanity.
Ecclesiastes 7:17
Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou
die before thy time?
Ecclesiastes 10:1-4
Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a
stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation
for wisdom and honour. A wise man's heart is at his right hand;
but a fool's heart at his left. Yea also, when he that is a fool
walketh by the way, his wisdom faileth him, and he saith to every
one that he is a fool. If the spirit of the ruler rise up
against thee, leave not thy place; for yielding pacifieth great
offences.
Ecclesiastes 10:12-15
The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a
fool will swallow up himself. The beginning of the words of his
mouth is foolishness: and the end of his talk is mischievous
madness. A fool also is full of words: a man cannot tell what shall
be; and what shall be after him, who can tell him? The labour of the
foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go
to the city.
Mark 7:15-23
There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can
defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they
that defile the man. If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. And
when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples
asked him concerning the parable. And he saith unto them, Are ye so
without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever
thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and
goeth out into the draught, purging all meats? And he said, That
which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within,
out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries,
fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit,
lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All
these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
