go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may
carry away in his hand. And this also is a sore evil, that in all points as he came, so
shall he go: and what profit hath he that hath laboured for the
wind?
Jeremiah 22:14-17
That saith, I will build me a wide house and large
chambers, and cutteth him out windows; and it is cieled with cedar,
and painted with vermilion. Shalt thou reign, because thou closest thyself in cedar? did not
thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it
was well with him? He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with
him: was not this to know me? saith the LORD. But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness,
and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for
violence, to do it.
Ephesians 5:3-7
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness,
let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are
not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor
covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the
kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these
